A Ceremonial Journey Through the Winter Months

This immersive course invites you to step into the rich and heart-opening world of ceremonial cacao during the dark days of winter, which is a natural time for us to turn inward, rest, and gather inspiration. It is designed for anyone who wants to work with the spirit of cacao in their own personal practice, and those who feel called to share cacao in gatherings, circles, or ceremonies. We want to inspire you as much as possible to find your own way.

The whole immersion goes from 9th of January to 25th of March and includes a 3-day retreat and 10 online gatherings. You will have the option of choosing:

  • The full Cacao Journey from 9 January to 25 March
  • Only the Cacao Retreat from 9-11 January
  • Only online sessions from 14 January to 25 March

The Retreat

We open the course with a 3-day retreat at our wonderful place on Femø, where you will be properly introduced to the world of ceremonial cacao. You will learn different ways to prepare cacao and ceremonial chocolate, and you will be guided into meditations, writing exercises, breathwork and ecstatic dance. You will also learn to combine other plants and work with plant spirits such as Blue Lotus and Bobinsana. We will introduce you to the three unique cacaos, we have carefully chosen to work with throughout the immersion, and you will receive all the ceremonial cacao you need for your self study.

Online Gatherings and Self Study

The journey continues with weekly online sessions, where we will keep doing our inner work through guided practices, reflective writing, and creative exercises. During these sessions you are invited to make your own cup of ceremonial cacao, allowing her spirit to be part of your working process. The sessions will be recorded for the group, so you can go back to the exercises – also if you are not able to join an online session. Throughout these weeks you are on your own journey with cacao, and there will be enough cacao for you to dive deep with this spirit in your own time as well.

We close our journey around the Spring Equinox, marking the transition into a new season, honouring both what we have gathered during the winter and what we are now ready to bring into bloom.

Ceremonial Cacao

Ceremonial cacao is pure, minimally processed cacao prepared with intention. Unlike regular chocolate, it is made from whole cacao beans that retain their natural richness and depth, offering a warm, heart-opening experience. For centuries, cacao has been used as a bridge between body, mind, and spirit, bringing calm to the mind and awakening love, clarity, and deep presence. It invites us to slow down, to listen within, and to feel our connection to both ourselves and the greater web of life.

Every time I work with a new Cacao I like to take my time and focus on the specific cacao for a few weeks. In my experience this is what allows the cacao to properly unfold in its fullest.

We have carefully chosen three unique cacaos from around the world that we love to work with. Each one has its own character and has been chosen for you to experience the great variety in ceremonial cacao.

Practical Information

The course is created and facilitated by Mary along with the Deep Spirit team. It will be held in English. Mary has worked with Cacao and other plants since 2018 and facilitates different kinds of ceremonies. She is a trained sound therapy practicioner, masseuse and yoga teacher, and a student of the plants.

The cacao retreat will take place from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th of January at our retreat center on Femø. From here we will have online sessions every Wednesday from 18.00-19.30 starting 14th of January and ending 25th of March. There will be no online session in week 7 (winter holidays), but you will receive exercises to make at home. It will be possible to do only the retreat or only the online sessions as well.

The full cacao journey includes:

  • Retreat from 9-11 January including food, cacao and accommodation in shared rooms
  • 1370g of ceremonial cacao worth 1320 kr. for your own cacao practice at home
  • Blue Lotus, Bobinsana, Rose and Forget-Me-Not tea that we will also work with throughout the immersion
  • 10 online sessions
  • A notebook for your exercises and reflections
  • Lots of exercises and inspiration received per e-mail (after each online session)
  • A DJ-mixed breathwork playlist for your own use
  • A DJ-mixed playlist for ecstatic dance for your own use

The full price for this Cacao Immersion is 5690 DKK (including ceremonial cacao)

Alternative Option 1 – Cacao Retreat:

  • Retreat from 9-11 January including food, cacao and accommodation in shared rooms
  • A notebook for your exercises and reflections
  • A DJ-mixed breathwork playlist for your own use
  • A DJ-mixed playlist for ecstatic dance for your own use

The price for the alternative option 1 is 3500 DKK

Alternative Option 2 – Online Sessions:

  • 1370g of ceremonial cacao worth 1320 kr. for your own cacao practice at home
  • Blue Lotus, Bobinsana, Rose and Forget-Me-Not tea that we will also work with throughout the immersion
  • 10 online sessions
  • A notebook for your exercises and reflections
  • Lots of exercises and inspiration received per e-mail (after each online session)
  • Cacao and tea can be picked up in Copenhagen before December 22.

The price for the alternative option 2 is 2900 DKK

If you book the full journey or the cacao retreat, then the first 2500 kr. is pre-payed when you book your spot. The remaining price of the course is paid at the latest on December 29 2025. During the retreat you receive all the ceremonial cacao and tea you will need for the rest of the immersion. Last day to sign up is December 21st.

If you only book the online session then you can pick up the ceremonial cacao and tea in Copenhagen up until December 22. Full payment takes place when you book the course as we need to order the cacao in advance.

Please note that the pre-payment is non-refundable. If you need to cancel your spot, we will try our best to find someone else to take your place. Only if someone else is available to take your place, will we refund the pre-payment. There is room for a maximum of 16 participants and the course needs a minimum of 6 participants to be held.
